Life for Bermondsey Mixer Co began at London gin bar, Two One Four, after the founders realised that the overpowering taste of Quinine extract, used in most commercial tonics, was smothering the subtle flavours of the gins they were serving. They set out to create a natural, honest and delicious craft tonic. Cinchona bark, the key ingredient that gives tonic its characteristic bitter taste, is usually substituted by other manufacturers with a solvent extract: quinine hydrochloride/sulphate. At Bermondsey Mixer Co, Cinchona bark is imported directly from South America and used in its natural form & allowing their products to retain a beautiful natural amber hue.
