Foxcombe Bakehouse is a family bakery that has evolved over the years from a kitchen table to now supplying over 150 shops, farm shops, garden centres, garages and tourist attractions in the South West and beyond! By using traditional recipes with only real ingredients such as local fresh free-range eggs and no added preservatives in their cakes, biscuits and sweet snacks, they can guarantee a premium product to be proud of, for you to enjoy. The benefits don’t stop there. The packaging they use is no longer plastic but are made of a compostable film! Any cardboard is recyclable and accredited with an FSC certification. General waste is collected by a company who send zero to landfill and all food waste is collected and added to a local commercial anaerobic digester in order to provide renewable energy that can be fed into the national grid.
Speaking of energy, 100% of the electricity that goes into baking their tasty treats is from green energy. The water supply we use is also private, helping reduce the impact of the business even further.
Helen first began baking cakes and pasties for their family farm shop in Lewdown, a small village nestled in countryside on the old A30 in Devon. Since then the business has gone from strength-to-strength leading to a purpose built bakery in 2009 and multiple Taste of the West awards in the years to follow.
