Despite over two thirds of our earth being covered in water, only 3% of this is fresh water that’s drinkable. The consequence is 2.1 billion of our fellow human beings have no access to clean drinking water. That is why Hydrophil have a common vision that their sustainable range of hygiene products should be: water-neutral, vegan & fair.
This means, wherever possible, they use resources which don’t endanger ground or drinking water and don’t require artificial irrigation, therefore reducing water consumption from production. Furthermore, their products contain neither animal products nor are tested on animals. They keep a keen on on their own supply chain, ensuring all products are produced in a fair manor.
They also donate 10% of their profits to the non-profit association Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli, which is a German NGO committed to providing access to clean drinking water for people in countries of the Southern Hemisphere.
Christoph, Sebastian and Wanja are three friends from Hamburg and the founders of HYDROPHIL. In the middle of 2012, they started their little blog hydrophil.com, which is still dedicated to various facets of water. They wondered if they could link the selling of a product to raising money and awareness for their favourite topic. They started with a t-shirt and now they’re the market leader in sustainable hygiene sector.
